“Rejoice in the Vineyard of the Lord”

Dear Sisters in the League

I just returned from the 102nd Annual National Convention held in Kelowna, British Columbia from August 14 -17, 2022.  The members cheered when National President Fran Lucas pronounced the official opening of the National convention.  It was a time of celebration, hugs & tears and much rejoicing as members greeted each other personally.

The theme for the weekend was “Rejoice in the Vineyard of the Lord”.  The main focus was the importance of relationships – making our relationships stronger and welcoming new relationships to foster.  Guest Speakers spoke on the art of accompaniment as we deepen one’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ and in personal holiness that transforms within each other in the everyday interactions of life.

One of the highlights was the Instructed Votes on the Amendment to the Constitution & Bylaws, and the Increase in per capita fee.  The motion to increase the national per capita fee from to $13 to $25 was adopted by a majority vote and will be put into effect with the 2023 membership year.  This vote shows that members from across Canada recognize the importance of the League and keeping it strong into the future.

All motions to amend the Constitution & Bylaws were adopted except for Amendment II: Patroness which was defeated.  The patroness of the League will still remain the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of “Our Lady of Good Counsel”.  More information will be given to the members at the Regional Meetings that will be held in September 2022.

The Fall Regional meeting is a chance to connect with other council presidents/members, share information under each officer’s chair, offer feedback on League issues and plan for the future.  Please encourage all members to join in.  All members are invited to attend any of the regional meetings.
