1st letter from President Joyce Cotter

Dear Sisters of The League:

It is my pleasure and privilege to become your new Hamilton Diocesan President.  With your encouragement and support, I look forward to sharing my joy of the League with you and rejoicing in God through our shared work.

We thank outgoing President Catherine Feren for all her hard work, dedication and vision for our League.

I sincerely wish to thank all Council Presidents for their continued service to the League (especially those who are taking on another year due to COVID-19).   Thanks to all newly elected Presidents for their willingness to say ‘Yes’.  I encourage you to embrace this new role with an open heart, mind, and spirit.

These are challenging times for our Councils, yet many have found innovative and creative ways to reach out to their members. Please continue to communicate with your members and pray for one another.  The theme “Welcome Home” encompasses the love and bond of sisterhood we create in our Councils, where there is a welcoming environment for all members to thrive, feel valued, and truly belong.

It is also important to remind your members to renew their membership for 2021. CWL Membership gives you the opportunity to bring the dignity of Christ to the world in a variety of ways.

In Hamilton Diocese, we have a proud legacy of 100 years of the League as our foundation.  With the implementation of the strategic plan, we can only become stronger as a League.

I am inspired by the work of so many women across our Diocese that are willing to serve the League.  Please continue to share the gifts and talents that God has bestowed on you, together we can make a difference.

The words of Thomas J. Porter in the hymn ‘Let Us Be Bread’ has spoken to me greatly.  I hope to encompass them as part of my presidency.

“Let us be bread, blessed by the Lord,

Broken and shared, life for the world.

Let us be wine, love freely poured.

Let us be one in the Lord.”

May Our Lady of Good Counsel bless you as you continue your work for God and Canada.

In Spirit and love,
Joyce Cotter
